Mistakes that accelerate skin aging

Napake, ki pospešujejo staranje kože

Oh yes, skin aging … Some people fear it to death, others whistle at it. None of this is good if you want to maintain healthy skin.

The fact is that aging is inevitable. But we can still influence it with our actions – we can slow it down or speed it up.

Aging is divided into intrinsic and extrinsic. Intrinsic aging is an inevitable physiological process, primarily determined by genetics - so we have little influence over it. Its consequences are thin, dry skin, small wrinkles and gradual dermal atrophy.

Extrinsic aging is the result of lifestyle and external environmental factors , such as polluted air, smoking, excessive alcohol consumption, poor diet and sun exposure. We can therefore influence it. Its consequences are coarse wrinkles, loss of skin elasticity, sagging and a rough appearance of the skin texture. The worst of the external factors is long-term exposure to UV radiation, which causes photoaging of the skin.

Why exactly does this happen?

Environmental factors cause skin aging through a complex cascade of reactions in the skin, driven by reactive oxygen species (ROS). These cause oxidative damage to cellular components. Damaged skin cells trigger inflammatory responses that lead to eventual damage, all of which contribute to skin aging.

Aging occurs in all layers of the skin, primarily due to the degradation of its components. It is a consequence of DNA damage in the nuclei and mitochondria, inflammation, glycation, reduced function of keratinocytes and fibroblasts, and the degradation of heparan sulfate, hyaluronic acid, collagen and elastin. It leads to phenotypic changes in skin cells and to structural and functional changes in extracellular matrix components such as collagen, elastin and proteoglycans. These components are responsible for the elasticity and hydration of the skin, which therefore deteriorate with aging.

MISTAKES THAT MAY UNCONSCIOUSLY ACCELERATE SKIN AGING:

1. Sun exposure without using sunscreen

UV rays cause photoaging, inflammation, and collagen breakdown. UVA rays also pass through clouds and windows, so sunscreen is necessary year-round, even indoors if you are near windows.

2. Poor diet with too much sugar

Foods with too much sugar raise blood sugar levels and skin. The result is a reduced ability to maintain and repair collagen and elastin. These are the proteins that keep skin elastic and youthful. So too much sugar = faster skin aging.

3. Alcohol consumption

It increases the risk of sunburn, as the concentration of antioxidants in the skin, which protect against free radicals caused by UV radiation, decreases.

4. Smoking

This causes the formation of free radicals, increases UV phototoxicity, reduces collagen synthesis and reduces tissue blood circulation. Smoking also results in increased activity of enzymes that break down collagen, elastin and other components of the subcutaneous tissue.

5. Not enough exercise

Regular sports activity increases blood circulation to the skin, which has a positive effect on skin cells and contributes to a more youthful appearance of the skin.

6. Not enough sleep

Yes, beauty sleep is scientifically proven. Lack of sleep can lead to poorer skin renewal. The result is duller, dehydrated skin. At the same time, too little sleep causes inflammation and reduces the amount of collagen and elasticity in the skin. This can result in acne and the formation of fine lines.

7. Inadequate skin care

Skin with insufficient moisture sags more quickly and is less resistant to external factors. Therefore, it is recommended to use a moisturizing serum to increase the moisture in the skin.

As we age, the percentage of collagen in our skin decreases - this is the protein that keeps the skin firm and smooth. Collagen synthesis can be stimulated by using a cream with bee venom .

Incorporate a moisturizing serum and bee venom cream into your routine for smooth and radiant skin.

8. Sleeping on your side or stomach

This causes "sleep" wrinkles, which are caused by the skin creasing and wrinkling during sleep. The best position to avoid wrinkling is therefore to sleep on your back. It is also recommended to use a silk pillowcase to reduce friction and wrinkling.

9. Not washing your face morning and night

The skin secretes sweat, toxins, and sebum, and impurities accumulate on it. It is important to wash your face morning and night, as this is the only way to prevent clogged pores and acne.

10. Too much coffee

Coffee is great, but don't overdo it. It contains a lot of caffeine, which reduces skin hydration and increases dryness. Try drinking tea or water instead.

11. Skin care with natural cosmetics

Natural cosmetics often contain unwanted ingredients that can damage the skin and contribute to its aging. Instead, choose high-quality natural cosmetics with the right composition that helps your skin. Discover our natural skin care products and support it with effective, natural cosmetics.

12. Using bad cosmetics

Products that contain bad ingredients accelerate skin aging. Creams with harsh chemicals can damage the skin and cause inflammation and loss of elasticity. Choose creams that contain nourishing ingredients such as vitamins, minerals, hyaluronic acid and collagen.
